In their first season as an OHSAA-sanctioned sport, the Ignatius rugby team has made quite an impression.
After upsetting crosstown rival St. Edward 10-8 in the final, the ‘Cats almost succeeded in knocking off the #4 team in the nation, Penn (Indiana) in a 27-22 thriller.
The strong showing at the eight state Midwest Championships propelled the previously unranked ‘Cats to 18th in the nation. St. Edward (Lakewood) dropped to 24th.
