The classic musical we all know and love, The Wizard of Oz, is running at the Breen Center for the Performing Arts 4/19 – 4/21 and 4/26 – 4/27. Every aspect of the 1939 film starring Judy Garland will be present including a simulated tornado, Toto the puppy (yes, a real puppy), and the munchkins who will be played surrounding grade school students.
The cast is made up of Saint Ignatius students as well girls from surrounding high schools such as Magnificat and Saint Joseph’s Academy. Some of the cast member include Veronica Selby ’13 (Magnificat) as Dorothy Gale, Tyler Tagliaferro ’13 as the Scarecrow, Nick Labate ‘13 as the Tin Man, and Nick Dawson ’13 as the Lion.
The show features excellent singing of the classic songs like “Over the Rainbow” and many others, and also has some really cool special effects that will make you feel like you are in 1939 listening to Judy Garland live. So, as once was said by many others before, “This is gonna be good.”
